AFA News 16 December 2020. Despite the announcement by the Government last week on the Single Disciplinary Body and the winding up of FASEA, it is important to note that this does not change the fact that the FASEA exam still needs to be completed by the end of 2021 and that the education standard needs to be completed by the end of 2025. There was nothing in this announcement by the Treasurer to suggest any change in the professional standards obligations that the Government legislated back in 2017. Whilst we will continue to advocate with FASEA on sensible changes to their implementation of the Professional Standards regime, this will not lead to fundamental changes, that would require legislation.
We remind members that those who sit the exam in either January/February or March will have the chance to sit the exam up to three times, if required, during 2021. We encourage members who are yet to sit and pass the exam, to have a clear plan for when they will do it and to prepare early in terms of any preparation courses that they choose to do. Leaving it too late will only increase the amount of pressure when it comes to sitting the exam.
