If you are a director of an Australian Company, you need to apply for a director identification number by 30 November 2022 via the Australian Business Registry Service (ABRS). It is a criminal offence if you do not apply on time. Click here for the ABRS.
A director ID is a unique 15-digit identifier given to a director who has verified their identity with the ATO. It is free to apply, and you only need to apply once. The director IDs will help to build a fairer business environment by preventing the use of false and fraudulent director identities.
If you are unsure if you need a director ID, you can check by:
- Searching ABN Lookup using your ABN or business name. If ASIC registration – ACN or ARBN or ARSN or ARFN is listed, and you are a director or corporate trustee, you will need a director ID.
